Frozen Moments is Live

The Frozen Moments contest, presented by Quiksilver, tasked Canadian surf shops with creating short videos featuring their surf teams and staff. The grand prize, to be announced in August, is a trip for four of the winning shop's staff to the Tatchu Adventures wilderness lodge on Nootka Island. The videos showed for the first time last month, and they're now online for voting until August 15th. It's a crowd-judged contest, and by casting your vote you'll be entered to win a Quiksilver Cypher Fuseflex wetsuit.

Here are the clips from the four finalists:

Storm Surf Shop: Tofino, B.C.

Riders: Isaac Raddysh, Kye Peladeau, Janek Peladeau, Kalum Temple, Hanna Scott, Peter Devries

Highlights: Peter's Section; Dave reading SBC Surf in the Tofino Brewing Co. cooler; Hanna beating the tar out of the hockey goon who killed her hamster.


HTO: Victoria, B.C.

Riders: Raph Bruhwiler, Mick Sheinberg, Caine Mills

Highlights: Raph shredding a board built from B.C. cedar; the down-the-line shot at 2:05; Mick Sheinberg deadeyeing a can of PBR.


Live to Surf: Tofino, B.C.

Riders: Cath Bruhwiler, Kiyo Oye, CC Unger, Jamie Lowe-Wylde, Sepp Bruhwiler

Highlights: Waves by sailboat; solo SUP sessions; the glassy barrel at 3:40.


Kannon Beach: Lawrencetown, N.S.

Riders: Nico Manos, Logan Landry

Highlights: Perfect wintry lefts; the smell of fresh surfboards; the ability to check the surf from your living room.
